Unanswered: Can DB2 jdbc Type 3 driver connect thro non default port

    I have installed 2 PC's (running W2K) with DB2 V8.1
One of the default Port of 50000
    The other on port 50002

I am using the Type 3 jdbc driver to connect e.g.
From what I have read, this requires the Applet Server to be running
to allow communication. I have this running on the default port of 6789.

We have a java application that requires to talk to the database, and sits
on a remote PC. I have ots classpath configured for both (and db2jcc.jar, it didnt work without this, a known problem I think)

For the PC that has DB2 configured on Port 50000 (default)
I can pass through a connection url using either
6789 or 50000 and can successfully connect in both cases.

However for the PC that has DB2 configured on Port 50002
I can successfully connect using Applets Server port of 6789
However if I use the database port of 50002
I crash DB2 on the server and get the following exception being thrown
    11581 [AWT-EventQueue-0] INFO com.volantis.mcs.repository.jdbc.DriverDataSource - URL is jdbc:db2://v-devloan:50002/proteus

    I guess the question is:
Can you connect via the database port.
If not why can I connect on the database port if it is the default setting form the install?

Re: Can DB2 jdbc Type 3 driver connect thro non default port

I am really surprised that you were able to connect using the instance port also ...

It is not what should happen ...
