    Unanswered: Strange connection problems

I am trying to connect from a client machine to a server maching over a wan to a server in a clustered environment.

    Both environments are AIX 5.1 and DB2 v8 FP2.

I issue the db2 connect command

$ db2 connect to aridbz user symd1 using password
SQL30082N Attempt to establish connection failed with security reason "19"
    ("USERID DISABLED or RESTRICTED"). SQLSTATE=08001

But the user is not disabled or restricted. I then reissue the command and it comes back with a connection.

$ db2 connect to aridbz user symd1 using password

    Database Connection Information

    Database server = DB2/6000 8.1.2
    SQL authorization ID = SYMD1
    Local database alias = ARIDBZ

So I don't know what is going on and why it is working this way?

any thoughts, suggestion, ideas would be appreciated.

I don't have much knowledge in clustered environnement but could it be possible that on one of the two server the user pwd is expired and/or need to change paswword and it is ok on the other one ...

    just a taught ....

Because I got this message in the pass and it was related to the user expiration ...

We have the password synched across all nodes in the cluster and we have told the admins to keep the id's passwords to never expire for the time being.
