    Unanswered: reorgchk hangs

    Hi!
I have a script that runs reorgchk and reorg on schemas and all tables. Some times it hangs . Some times it shows one table and other times it shows some thing else. Iam not sure how to track and what to track to see why it's hanging.
This script runs nightly as cron job.
Anyone has anyidea about this kind of stuff.

    Thanks

Your Script is performing REORG on Schema which is a variable.
If you did not set that variable then there are chances your script might hang. You may want to keep some echo statements and debug the script and make sure Schema name is getting populated.
Your script can only work with V8 and will not work for V7 UDB.

Iam running this script on DB2 UDB 8.1 (with fixpak 3). DB_SCHEMA variable comes from the env (souring .profile before calling this script).

    Thanks

    Reorg

    Hi,

I feel rather than doing a reorg for all the tables at once. It is suggested that you split the same to do it a few tables at a time. and then commit and then proceed for the next tables.

It would be a great effort for re-writing the individual scripts, however please also note that a reorg activity uses a lot of logging and also takes time so probably what you feel hangs actually takes time to complete.

    Cheers..

    Nitin.
