    Post Unanswered: Maximum concurrent applications

    O/S : AIX 5.2
    DB : DB2 UDB EE 7.2

    Hi guys:

What would be a good strategy to scale DB2 to handle heavy load from a huge number of clients (above 100,000 concurrent connections)?
UDB EE has a limit of 60, 000 applications!!!

    Thanks in advance.

Get some kind of middleware so that the clients don't talk directly to DB2.

In Version 8 you have connection pooling in db2 itself

Doesn't this sound a good excuse to migrate to the next version ?

IBM DB2 Connect is one such middleware. Check out the IBM DB2 Connect User’s Guide, and look up “connection pooling.” It is available in version 7 also, but not sure what version 8 enhancements are available (or built into the DB2 product itself as mentioned in the previous post).
