Unanswered: Connecting to an access database

Hey, just wondering if anyone knew if its possible for anyone to connect to an Access database in Linux through some programming language. From what I've seen, ODBC drivers do not seem freely available to handle this task unlike most free databases. Am I missing something or is connecting to Access generally reserved for Windows alone?

It is possible to connect to an access "database" from linux. You can use java and the rmi-jdbc-bridge from objectweb (http://rmijdbc.objectweb.org). The problem is, that you have to start an rmi service on your windows. But that's all.
