    Unanswered: Afet OS upgrade Unexpected end of input stream

    I upgraded my UNIX (actually AIX) to the current maintenance level. My java/MySQL application accessed through JDBC has stopped working giving a long stream of messages beginig with

    java.sql.SQLException: Communication link failure: java.io.IOException, underlying cause: Unexpected end of input stream** BEGIN NESTED EXCEPTION ** java.io.IOExceptionMESSAGE: Unexpected end of input streamSTACKTRACE:java.io.IOException: Unexpected end of input stream at java.io.IOException.<init>(IOException.java:49) at com.mysql.jdbc.MysqlIO.readPacket(MysqlIO.java:109 6)

    The application has worked flawlessly for over a year. Could someone please point me to a fix for this ?

    Thanks

    Thanks for your response.

    I installed something called mysql-connector-java-3.0.8-stable after it did not work with what I had. I am not quite sure if I installed it properly - I followed the instructions but fail to understand where the binary version of this gets picked up.

    I installed the tree of com and org where my old version used to live.

    I am able to access mysql from command line. One additional info - in the localhost.err file I see

    mysqld got signal 11;
    The manual section 'Debugging a MySQL server' tells you how to use a
    stack trace and/or the core file to produce a readable backtrace that may
    help in finding out why mysqld died.
    030925 18:09:09 mysqld restarted
    /usr/local/bin/mysqld: ready for connections
