    Unanswered: Logging DTS file manually

I have about 6 DTS packages. I have to make a logging procedure that will log the execution start/end time to a specified file. If the step fails due to ne reason i have to log that too. From my understanding the DTS in SQL server 2000 has a logging feature but i have never used it before. Does ne one have ne ideas on how to go bout this problem?

    Thanks in advance,

    Hi there!

As far as I know, the built in logging features of dts outputs information on every step of your package into the named log file. The log file name can be defined in the package property panel.

Another idea could be two ActiveXTask as first and last step of every package, that writes the desired information into an OS-file.

Maybe that could be a hint.
