    Unanswered: Dump database

    Can any one tell me as to how to dump a database(if possible) into a file. I need all the contents as a backup.

    Re: Dump database

    If you want to stripe it on more than one file then you could use something like this:

    select "********* Dump prod DB",getdate()
    go
    dump database <DB NAME> to "f:\dump\prodmon1.dmp"
    stripe on "f:\dump\prodmon2.dmp"
    stripe on "f:\dump\prodmon3.dmp"
    stripe on "f:\dump\prodmon4.dmp"
    stripe on "f:\dump\prodmon5.dmp"
    go
    select "********* Dump log ",getdate()
    go
    dump tran <DB NAME>with truncate_only
    go
