Replication in a disconnected environment:

We have a Main server that will transmit and receive data from laptops that are in the field. The laptops are never connected to the server. During the time in the field we are entering data in the SQL database and this data needs to be sent back to the server and the data needs to be “merged”, i.e. the data in the laptop needs to be imported to the server and we need to be able to get data from the Main server that is created for that Laptop.
We need to transport the data between the 2 computers using a USB device or CD-ROM.

We have been investigating to see if Merge replication will work but haven’t been able to make it work in a totally disconnected environment and we need help to make it work if it is possible at all to use replication in a disconnected mode.

Is this even possible using replication???????
