    Unanswered: IS THERE STUFF()-Function in oracle

    Hi

    URGENT please HELP me......


    I want to replace some existing funcation.The funcation i used in sqlserver is 'STUFF('HELLOWORLD,'4,1,'G'). I want to be done the same funtionality in oracle.


    As i know there is no such function in oracle. Any one who knows a way to solve this problem. PLZ help me.

    It does replace the selected existing text with new text. Just Now i get the soluton for this.
    that is
    'Replace('string_to_be_replaced','new_string')'

    hi,

    i think it does more then just replace a string with another string.
    If not just assign the old string to a variable and then assign the new string to that same variable.
    If u want to replace some characters or certain string in string, u can use the replace command.
    Command = REPLACE(string_in, search_string, replacement_string)

    Like this :
    select replace('a nice string','nice','nasty') from dual;
