    Unanswered: Adding Access records to an existing Oracle table

    Hi, I am new to this so can someone give me an example of how to add 100 or so records from an Access database (the entire table) to Oracle using SQL?

    Thanks

    Re: Adding Access records to an existing Oracle table

    First you have to set up a DSN (Data Source Name) on your PC. This is done through Control Panel -> Admin Tools -> Data Sources ODBC. Choose Microsoft for Oracle driver.

    Then from Access, create a new table and Choose Link. Select the DSN you created ealier as the source for the new table, and when the list of tables appear, choose the table you want to insert into.

    Now that you have a local Access table, and a linked Oracle table, simply insert into the Oracle Table, selecting from the Access table

    ie

    INSERT INTO oracle_table
    SELECT access_table.*
    FROM access_table;

    Be sure and close your connection when you get done.
