Unanswered: WHERE x INNER JOIN - How the best?

    Hi all

I'm using where clauses in my sql queries. When inner join is the best practice? Or WHERE always is better?

    Thanx in advance

Inner join is the preferred syntax for SQL Server. As a matter of fact, the optimizer will attempt to convert your old-style WHERE logic to JOIN logic before devising an execution plan, so for most queries there wouldn't be a performance hit from using the old syntax.

The old syntax is, IMHO, more confusing to code and debug. The philosophy driving JOIN logic is that it separates the linking portion of your statement (JOIN) from the criteria portion (WHERE).
