Unanswered: Security of FMP 5.5 Web Companion

    Hi

It mentions in the FMP manual that "knowledgeable users" will be able to delete files hosted by Web Companion.

Just how "knowledgeable" do you have to be to hack a web companion server. Could someone provide some examples of how easy it is?

Are there ways of improving security? ie is FMP6 better for this?

FileMaker is very vulnerable when exposed directly to the web. I highly recommend using a middleware application (Lasso, PHP) that uses forms and server side scripts to interact with FileMaker, instead of just sending http requests directly from browsers to FileMaker. This will (a) make your solution much more difficult to hack (b) give you much more programming flexibility.
