Unanswered: Access Lockfile 9 - probably a common problem, help well apprec.

I've designed an access2000 database that is linked to an excel spreadsheet.

The database works fine and updates from the spreadsheet each time I open it. however, when i'm in the database other users can't open or save the shared spreadsheet. A 'Access.LockFile.9' appears in the folder with the database which seems to be the cause of the problem.

    Is there anyway around this?

excel spreadsheets are not designed to be multiuser friendly ... As such, all other accesses can be readonly only.

    Question

Can you link a database to a spreadsheet in readonly then? If so there may not be a lock.
