    Unanswered: Restoring a table ?

Hello, Im backing up my database (Informix 9.30 for Solaris) with OnBar.
Now, Id like to try the restore, but I dont want to restore all the database, only a table from it.
I think I cant do it directly if all the tables from the database belongs to the same dbspace.
Ive been thinking for some solutions but they appear to be difficult.
If somebody know how to solve the issue, please answer me. Thanks!!

Red face Re: Restoring a table ?

    Hi,

In informix there is no possibility to restore a single table, even a single dbspace has it's limitations. When restoring a single dbspace it should always be to the latets known point, so no point-in-time. So the result is the same dbspace as before the restore started. You'll notice that the back-up tools are developed for system errors and not for user errors etc.

The solution I know (but is very work intensive and will cost a lot of down time if you don't have a test/spare system).

    - back-up engine
    - Restore engine point-in-time
    - Unload table
    - Restore to latest point

    Hope this helps....
