What are you trying to do? Sell the database to other people? Or are you just trying to create a front end and a backend database setup?

You can try Tools -> Add-Ins -> Database Splitter in Access 97

It is a way. make a copy of the database and delete all the queries, forms, reports, macros, modules, etc.
In the front end (original db), delete all the non-temporary tables.
Put the front end onto one user's computer
Make a network connection like M: drive (all computers using this db will need this network connection set up
Go to File -> Get External Data -> Link Tables
Find the new database that contains only the tables
select all the tables (use select all)
    click the OK button
copy the front end to everyone's computer
you may have to install Access runtime on everyone's computer. The setup wizard part of the development tools for Access 97 can prepare this for you.
Finally, you will probably need to add code for relinking the front end.
