I am running windows 2000 on a ibm xseries server with 2X600 processors, i was running a Visual Fox pro database and doing searchs on a table with about 800,000 rows. I have changed database to SQL server 2003 and imported the data with DTS. The same query in VFP runs in about 2 seconds, take 2 minutes in SQL server, why would SQL server be so slow. I do a simple count(field) and it take 121 seconds to output 800,000. From my experience, SQL server is quick, so what could be the problem.
