    Unanswered: Cloning an oracle database

    Hi,

I do not have any database on windows-xp server but have oracle-9i installed. I have copied the needed files like .dbf, .log, control files, initialization file from production on windows-xp server.

Modified all the values in control fles, initialization file to reflect path on window-xp server.

Tried to run svrmgr and that is non-existing in 9i.

How do I do cloning database from the files I have?

I can not start sqlplus as there is no database yet.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks
    Vinnie

    hi,

i don't fully understand ur intensions, but in 9i svrmgrl is not possible. Instead u can use sqlplus without a database, by typing sqlplus /nolog
In this way u can start sqlplus, without having a fully created database, the same as svrmgrl in the past.

    Hope this helps.
