    Question Unanswered: Zero Before Number

    Hi,

Does anyone know how to get Excel to allow you to have a zero before a number in a cell (i.e. 0198945)?

I am trying to enter specific order numbers, but it automatically removes the zero and I couldn't find a way to turn that off.

    Thanks for any help,
    Alex

    Easy...

Choose the cell (this can be done for columns/rows too)
    select FORMAT
    select CELL
    select CUSTOM

you'll see your number in the 'sample' box

    CHOOSE the '0' format
position yourself in the 'type' box (there should already be a zero there) and enter "0's" until you have as many leading zeroes as you want. It varies based on the cell formatting/size.

    select OK

    That's it. Good luck.
