Unanswered: Howto connect Designer to a Remote Database?

    Help please!,

I had to Install Oracle9, create a Repository, Install Designer and work with it in only 2 days knowing absolutely nothing when started.

Now, they want to configure a computer two buildings away with Designer and to be able to work in THIS repository.

MAN!!. My fault when I said I could handle Oracle to get the job.. =(

My guess is to modify their TNSNAMES.ORA file, to connect via TCP to this computer specifying de service name of my database...

Please.. I would really appreciate any kind of help..

My database is called DATA (how original ha? =P ), i know this IP and already created a user with all the permissions.

I have like 4 entries in that ora file, one is called DATA. I have to copy that entry in their file?

    sht.. they re coming.. seeya!.
PD: Sorry for my bad english"..a a

u have a local tnsnames.ora file. It's located in the oracle_home\network\admin directory. When u installed Oracle 9iDS at the new computer, just copy the tnsnames.ora to the new client.

This quick and dirty but it works.
If u have any instance in that file that u dont 'to be available to them, just comment it out or remove it. be sure to remove all text starting with DBNAME- .. to SERVICE_NAME= ... ))

    Hope this helps.
