    Exclamation Unanswered: IMPORTING text file that has brackets in field names

    I am trying to import tab-delimited text files into tables. The problem is that some of the field names in the original file have brackets and I get a bunch of errors. Is there anyway to work around this while importing? Right now I just use this to import directly into a new table:

    DoCmd.TransferText transfertype:=acImportDelimited, _
    specificationname:=strFileType, _
    TableName:=strTableName, _
    Filename:=selectedFile, _
    hasfieldnames:=True

    Any ideas?

    Regards,
    Mario

    Re: IMPORTING text file that has brackets in field names

    What about importing into an existing table that already has the fields named correctly, specifying to the import that the first record does not contain field names, and then deleting the first record?

    The problem is that the data file changes often both in field name and field position. :-(
