    Unanswered: PostgreSQL and ADO

I'm very intrigued by the power and flexibility of PostgreSQL, and although I've never used it, I'd like to start.

Only problem is that I'd like to access it via ADO, and I have not seen much discussion around this. My forum search on "ADO" doesn't return a single hit! However, I do know that an ODBC driver is available.

Of course running on a linux box is preferred, but I'd also like to try running on Win32 as well. Either way, a VB client would be accessing the database, querying, and if possible, perform routine administration.

Does anyone have any decent links to this? Any comments? I'm not asking to be spoon fed here, but I just need some direction to start off with. Any help is greatly appreciated!

    Much thanks!

Although I've never personally used VB with Postgres, Karim2k (a frequent visitor here) seems to mainly use VB with Postgres via odbc, and he doesn't seem to have too many problems with it.

In fact, he is involved with a project that has written a DB management program entirely in VB, using odbc.

Some people have mentioned that the postgres odbc driver isn't quite mature, but in my (limited) experience, it seems very much mature in comparison with some of the other odbc drivers I've used. (In particular, the MS-Access (Jet) driver doesn't support quite a few of the functions I've tried to use.)

Thanks for the responses! It's just what I was looking for.
