    Unanswered: Estimating postgresql db size

Man, I'm loving this database! Hard to believe it's free.

I need to estimate the size of my planned database as disk space may become tight. I'm aware of the size of each variable type (int=8 bytes, char(n)=n bytes, etc) but I'm not sure if that's enough to be a good estimation of field size of the database.

That is, if a database consists of a single table with one field, consisting of 3000 rows of char(100), that's 300kB of data, but surely the database must be larger than that. What if the field is indexed?

    Any help is greatly appreciated!
