    Unanswered: automatic backup

    Hi all

How do i set my database to back up automatically once a week.

Im not bothered what the file name is, such as if its db1, db2, db3 etc.

Also how can i set up where its saved to, such as c:\database\backup\

I dont know how to use vb or sql im a very basic user, so can you try and make it as simple as possible.

    Cheers in advance

    Matt

    Re: automatic backup

You can find on the Net tons of backup software, free or payable. For example, I use a freeware program called HandyBackup and it works OK for me. Search www.download.com, www.nonags.com and the like.

Another alternative is a what I call a "poor man's automatic backup":

    1. Create a text file with a .BAT extension

    2. Put in it COPY or XCOPY commands for all filles you want to backup in one batch.

    3. Use Windows Scheduler to set the time you want the .BAT file to be run.

    4. Last, but not least: let your computer on if the backup is to be performed during wee hours of the morning.

    Hope this helps.
