Unanswered: os_create_region while configuring ASE 12.5

    Hi,

i installed the ASE 12.5 Developers Edition on SUSE 8.2 using rpm --nodeps

    Everthing worked fine.

I set up everthing for the serverconfiguration within asecfg.
Afterwards asecfg starts to build the databases.

    During this procedure it prompts:

    os_create_region: can't allocate .. 30MB for master.db

    Any help is appretiated.

    Thanks

    I already got a solution.

But thanks for looking at it.

It is the same problem concerning os_create_region during server startup.

to solve this: execute as root:

echo "amount of memory needed" > /proc/sys/kernel/shmmax

stupid thing that you have to do this everytime you restart

    Hi,

Can you tell me if you had any problem with 'srvbuild'. I can't
get it to create the master/sybsystemproc devices. When startup
occurs, the error message " Can't find master device". Because
srvbuild won't create the device. I am using SuSe 8.1

Any help would be appreciated it.

    Hi,

right now i have a different problem to solve. Setting the shmmax variable solved the problem with os_create_region. But some steps after it, the installer prompted another problem.

So I did not got to work yet, but i will let you if i did.

Installing ASE is a terrible thing.
