    Possible larger redo logs (depending on the frequency of the switches)...
    Try for a switch every 15 mins or so ...

    Check for contention by:
    SELECT substr(ln.name,1,25), gets, misses, immediate_gets, immediate_misses
    FROM v$latch l, v$latchname ln
    WHERE ln.name IN ('redo allocation', 'redo copy')
    AND ln.latch# = l.latch#;

    SELECT NAME, VALUE
    FROM V$SYSSTAT WHERE NAME = 'redo buffer allocation retries';
    ... if high, increase log_buffer

    INIT.ORA parameters to look at

    log_checkpoint_interval
    log_checkpoint_timeout
