    Unanswered: Restrating database

    I am trying to restart the database after
    this error

    "ORA-04031: unable to allocate 4192 bytes of shared memory ("shared
    pool","unknown object","sga heap","state objects")
    "

    But I am not able to start it, The database is not being mounted and giving this error


    ORA-01102 cannot Mount Databse in Exclusive mode

    What could be the reason

    Need urgent help

    if on unix perhaps you need to reduce the number of processes which is directly related to semaphores which is directly related to memory.

    Hi,


    The 1102 occurs when some other instance has mounted the database.

    It could be that your ORACLE_SID and ORACLE_HOME is not setup correctly.

    Do you have more than one database on this server?

    Also check if the Mount Lock file exists in $ORACLE_HOME/dbs.

    Try connecting as:

    svrmgrl>connect sys/<pwd> as sysdba
    SATHISH .
