    Question Unanswered: Suggestions for good sproc tools?

    Hello;

    First off, I'm a complete newbie at using Sybase databases. Second, the Sybase database I have to work with right now will be migrated to MS SQL in the future, so probably won't become a Sybase guru any time soon, but I do need a solution for "here and now"

    A customer of mine has an application that uses a Sybase database, and I now need to be able to write stored procedures for that database, but I don't have any tools to do so.

    Up until now, I was using a generic SQL editor to access the Sybase database via an ODBC connection (and SQL Anywhere v8.) The only software I've found to write stored procedures is copy of iSQL v5.5 which seems just about useless

    Is there any newer, better application I can use to write stored procedures on a Sybase database, w/o havin go spend a million dollars and without having to buy a whole suite of tools? I'm familiar with using MS Query Analyzer and I'd love to have an application like that... does such a program exist for Sybase????
    Sincerely,

    There is a utility very similar(in fact better) than MS Query Analyzer with ASA 8 called the SQL Object Debugger.

    If you have the ASA 8 CD on you, it should be available on the CD.

    By ASA 8, do you mean the SQL Anywhere Studio 8? Either way, that looks like application I should have to do what I need to. Thanks for the info

    To debug your SP, try the evaluation version of SQLBrowser.

    Thanks for the info, fadace

    I'm downloading the eval of SQL Anywhere Studio 9 right now... I think that is the software I am looking for (which my client doesn't have right now.) I'll then try-out the SQLBrowser

    Sorry SQLBrowser only works with Sybase ASE, not Sybase ASA.
