    Unanswered: mysql and slackware

does anyone else have troubles getting the mysql that comes installed with slackware to run? you sould think you could just run safe_mysqld and it would work. I am running slackware 9 and when i run safe_mysql as root i just get the output:

    root@server:~# safe_mysqld
Starting mysqld daemon with databases from /var/lib/mysql
    031119 11:44:47 mysqld ended

any ideas? am i forgetting anything?
    thanks,
    Trevor

    1. What the errorlog says?
    2. Try to run with full path before safe_mysqld (/path/from/root/safe_mysqld --user=mysql &)
