    Unanswered: Crontab

We want to schedule a crontab to run a script in sybase to update statistics the first saturday of every month.

What would the options be within crontab?

    crontab format is :
    minute
    hour
    day of the month
    month
    day of the week

these are logical 'or', not 'and', unless you choose any (*)
So, setting day of month to 1-6 and day of week to Sat
does not select first Sat of the month but days 1 through 6 plus every Sat of a month.
What you want to do is create a script that checks the date
and executes conditionally, e.g. run the script days 1 through 6
of each month and within the script check the day of the week

Clearly, this will run at midnight every 1st day and every
    single Monday of every month
