Post Unanswered: Error starting the db2admin

    Error starting the db2admin start.
SQL1042C An unexpected system error occurred. SQLSTATE=58004

Any ideas .. what could be the reason.
I already a db2 7.x running on AIX. I tried installing the DB2 8.x with no success. So, de-installed the 8.x. Now, i have started getting this when i try to start the db2admin. db2start work fine.

    2003-11-20-14.22.06.581371 Instance:db2as Node:000
    PID:614530(db2sysc) Appid:none
    common_communication sqlcctcpopnadm Probe:40
DIA3205E Socket address "523" configured in the TCP/IP services file and
required by the TCP/IP server support is being used by another process.

Any ideas ... how this can be resolved ...

    Hi RAHool,

somebody is listening to the db2as port 523. It is most probably a leftover from your experiments. Find that process and kill it. Also, you may want to do a cleanup of ipc ressources.

    Re: Error starting the db2admin

I think the commands are ipclean and slibclean ...

I do not know how to associate a process and a tcpip port ...

    Do a ps -ef | grep <adminserver id>

If there are any processes, kill them and then clean as mentioned above ..

This should hopefully release the ports

    Cheers

Thank You for the info Sathyaram,

the Admin Server is not running. Also, when i used the ipclean it killed the db2inst1 instance.
Should i try a reboot of OS and may be that helps anything ..
