Question Unanswered: Access97 Updating a record from a report

I have a table that has a date in it. I want the date filled in when I run the report. In the report I want the date filled in using the date function.
But if the date is already put in the table I want it to use the origanal print date that it stored.

Does anyone have a idea how to do this?

Before opening and running the report add code that enters a date into the records where that date doesn't exist, then open the report with the date based on the date in the table (it will exist now)

    Do you have a example

Where would you create code before you started the report?
Would this be another form or module? Could you give me a
    example?

    Thanks

Asuming you are currently using the switchboard to display you report

    you have two options

Add the code to the OnOpen event of the report

    OR

create a form with a command button where you run the code and then open the report (also using code) after the update has been done (my perference)
