I help run a few boxes that run Steam HL servers on them and I want to try and make an easier way of updating the servers then having to type out ./steam blahblahblahbalblah every time there is an update (which seems to be twice a week at least). So running 30 servers can be a pain especially with several mods. I setup a small script just that cd's into the user directory and exec's their ./steam plus their update user and pw, but you still have to do this several times due to several mods. What I am trying to do is to have an external variable recognized say ./update -cstrike so that it would run the update for counter-strike and so on. How do I get a variable in the startup line to coinside with a variable in the script itself?
