Angry Unanswered: 9ir2 on RHES 3.0 linking problem

Oracle installation succeeds. However during the linking process several errors occur. Most are delt with by applying various patch-sets. However two errors remain that I have not been able to solve.

error in invoking target of ioracle makefile /ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/lib/ins_rdbms.mk (twice)

I have tried manualling installing by using the "make -f ins_rdbms.mk install" command. It fails also with the following errors.

ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/lib/oracle: hidden symbol '__fixunssfdi' in /usr/lib/gcc-lib/i386-redhat-linux/3.2.3/libgcc.a(_fixunssfdi.oS) is referenced by DSO
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
    make: *** [ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/lib/oracle] Error 1

Does anyone have any ideas on this one. I am at wits end!

This seems to be the last error to get past in the installation of Oracle 9ir2 on RedHat Enterprise Server 3.0. If I get past this I will post my documentation for anyone that requests it.

    Thumbs up

    Hi,

This error arises because there is No enough contiguous swap space.
So, Add a large chunk of contiguous swap space.
    SATHISH .

I dont think that is it. Although I only have 256Mb of RAM I have a swap partition of about 2Gb. That is the MAX that Linux will be able to use in a contigous file.
