    Unanswered: partition

    hi
    i have two questions..
    1) is there any method to finf the current sga size using os commands(i faced this question from an interview)
    2)i have a table with 8 lakh records.It not partitioned.Now i want to do partion of this table ..what are the ways ..can i use alter table option

    1) Yes you can see the shared memory segments of the Server RAM

    2) You can create range partitions , list partitions , and hash partitions

    You can not use the alter table option to create partition on a non partition table but you can create a new table partitioned and then move the data to new table

    Thanks for ur mail.pls tell by using which os command i can find the current sga size.pls tell both from Linux and windows 2000

    For UNIX systems the command is ipcs, but you must see the man pages in order to find a way to use it. ususally u can issue an ipcs -b (AIX).

    For windows i don't know a specific command. Use performance manager. I think u will find what you want.
