    Unanswered: Huge Database Transaction Log

I have a database of 7 Gigs. But, the transaction log is of 18 Gig size. I have been inserting and deleting tables with millions of records for the past few montths. I dont have maintenance plan on this database except that it is backed up every week. I dont have any space constraints.
But, I do wonder whether the size of the transaction log would effect the performance of queries on the main database.

    Any thoughts ???

Eventually, it will. What you need to do is either dump(backup) the log frequently or change the recovery mode to 'Simple'. Execute DBCC Shrinkfile to shrink the log size.

Large log file will affect your disk I/O. In your case the speed of write will slow down substantially at some point of time.
