    Unanswered: MSAccess forms or MSSQL + VB

    I am an Access user. Now I want to use MSDE. (Sorry for my English)

    IN MS ACCESS
    Table 1 : Books ([Book_ID] ; [Book Name])
    Table 2: Sales_Book ([Book_ID_FK]; [Quantity])
    Relationship: one too many: Book_ID ----> Book_ID_FK

    I use one form to input data in Sales_Book table, this is the RecordSource: SELECT [Sales_Book].[Book_ID_FK], [Book].[Book Name], [Sales_Book].[Quantity] FROM Book INNER JOIN Sales_Book ON [Book].[Book_ID]=[Sales_Book].[Book_ID_FK];

    In a form, if I type the data in Book_ID_FK the "book name" is automatically displayed. (See the picture attached)

    IN VB6 + ADO + DATAGRID

    If I try the same things in VB the data is not automatically displayed. To make this is necessary to use (AfterUpdate event ; Recordset.Requery ......) and data is displayed after the record is updated.

    Please help me, if somebody has an example (MSAccess or MSSQL + VB6 + ADO + DataGrid) that make the same things like an Access form

    You'll be better off posting in a VB or Access forum...

    In any event, you'd be better off with stored procedures, unless you're just trying to do a flat migration...

    good luck...

    The physical order of data in a database has no meaning.
