Question Unanswered: Converting Progress to Access

    Hi all,

I want to convert a Progress database to an Access database. But I don´t have the program of Progress, only the database files.

Does anyone know if this is possible? And how?

    Greetings, Silvano.

    Greetings, Silvano.
You must run Progress database server at first. You must have Progress Standalone DB or Workgroup DB which version matches database version. I mean Progress version 6, 7, 8 or 9. You must obtain this software from Progress Software Company. There Data Administration Tool included with Standalone DB or Workgroup DB products. Choose PRO/SQL -> Dump as CREATE TABLE Statement... option to prepare 2 SQL stripts: one with CREATE TABLE statements, another with CREATE INDEX. These scripts can be executed against Access database to create it with the same logical structure as Progress db is designed. Next step is to move data from Progress to Access. There are 2 options:
    1. dump data from Progress db to text files using Data Administration Tool.
    2. use JDBC/ODBC driver for Progress db.

    Hope it helps.
    Regards
    Bogdan
