Unanswered: Windows Authentication-Establishing domain trust
We are using "Windows only" authentication for our SQL Server. Now we have a "Reporting server", in a different domain, that needs to connect to the SQL Server. Can some one tell what is the best way to go about this? I tend to think that we need to establish a trusted relationship between the 2 domains. I greatly appreciate if someone can give me some information on this or direct me to any documentation on the Net.
NT authentication under SQL is similar to how yo would normally grant access to any server/directory on any normal domain.
If you have an external domain that needs access to the SQL box in your current domain, get your server admin guys to create a trust relationship wherby your current domain trusts the external domain.
Then, once that is done, add the NT account from the external domain into the SQL box like you would any other local domain account. Then allocate access to the SQL user insode the server like normal.
