    Unanswered: transferDatabase problem (MSAccess)

    hello,

I am trying to combine multiple tables into one table in Access. This is the line of code I am using as a cmd button starting it:

    DoCmd.TransferDatabase acExport, , "tea", acTable, "tmp_010", "tmp_all"

    I get an error of:

'The type isn't and installed database type or doesn't support the operation you chose.'

After acExport in , , I thought that leaving that field blank it went with the default "mircosoft Access Database".

    Any help would be apreciated

    Thank you

    Scott

    Sorry

I just thought of a problem while I sent the posting. That all the tables that I wanted to combine are not the same data structure. So, I think I will not be able to combine the tables into one table. Maybe I can combine them into one text file with "transferText" (since that is my destination).

    thank you

    Scott

You can write a union query to combine your tables, save the query, and export that.

    select field1 from tbl1
    union
    select field3 from tbl8
    union
    ...

Just keep in mind that the column headers will be defined from the first select statement (which you can give an alias to)
All code ADO/ADOX unless otherwise specified.
    Mike.
