    Unanswered: Skrink TempDB

    Hello eberybody,
at work we have sql 2000 installed, the space assigned to tempdb is 20GB wit autogrow disabled, but the space really used is 8GB and i want to shrink the tempdb to save some space.
I try with DBCC SHRINKDATABASE but the tempdb is always 20GB, what can i do to shrink this database ?

    Thank you fo any answer.

    Howdy,

Set the size of tempdb to 8 GB ( or whatever size you want ) then restart SQL server which will set the minimum size tempdb can be to 8 GB - if you set it to 20 GB it will allways have that as a minimum size.

    Cheers,

    SG

    Thank you for your reply,
the tempdb is set to 20GB, so if understand well this is the minimum size of the DB and there's no way to reduce to a lower size ?
