Unanswered: Can't get IIS 5.0 to get ASP to execute.
I have been reading up on ASP and studying it and think I'll be able to work with it fine - if I could just get it to work in the first place. I have browsed many web pages and followed instructions for setting up IIS 5.0 to run scripts on ASP pages - but the page only displays the HTML and when I view the source, the ASP code is displayed!!
I have set up the virtual directory under c:\inetpub\wwwroot and selected all the appropriate settings (I have checked "Allow Read Access" and "Allow Script Access" in the wizard).
I have also created a default.htm page which links to the ASP page to make sure I am requesting it from the server.
I have set up the virtual folder & it's contents on my own PC. I am running IIS 5.0 and Windows 2000 Professional with all the service packs & security fixes.
Any ideas? I couldn't find a similar post/answer on this forum - so I'm asking.
Apparently I had set it up all correctly, but my HTML link used the actual directory instead of the http://localhost. . . link. When I replaced the link with "http://localhost. . ./test1.asp" it worked just fine!! I guess I had set everything up properly, I just wasn't calling the page properly.
I'll leave this post on just in case someone else has been struggling with the same issue.
