    Unanswered: drop IDENTITY attribute

Is there any way to remove IDENTITY column attribute without dropping the column?

I knew about that but in this case SQL Server drops the table and recreates it with the new description (including indexes, constraints, triggers, etc.). - a hell of a script - checked with Profiler
I thought it might be another way to do it smoothly.

    Thanks anyway,

you can do "alter table tbl drop column column_name" and then add a column without the identity. the only problem is it will append the column at the end of the field list. i think yukon will have the ability to drop/add properties.
