cannot open db in exclusive mode: db NOT open by other user

I get the message that I either does not have permission to open my MDB in exclusive mode, OR that another user has the db open.

I just created another user than Admin (does not work for admin either, even that user is "owner" of the elements), and assigned full admin rights to it. (member of the Admins group AND selected all tables, queries, forms etc. and applied Administer rights for the new user manually.

No matter if I log in with that user or Admin, I get the same message. I am on a single LapTop, no other users have been using it. I did try test mapping a local folder to a new drive, to test ODBC against that db from another local db I have in my computer, though, but that was over a week ago, have restarted several times since, and that share is NOT re-connected at login. ( I have also moved the db since, so any old connections should not work. ).

    What can be the problem?

Whenever I've had this problem it's always been one of two things... Either there is a stray .ldb file hanging around somewhere that needs to be deleted... OR... there is some corruption...

First I'd search for any .ldb files with the database name, and delete them (Make sure that noone else is in the database when you do this!)

If that doesn't fix your problem I'd create a new blank database and try importing all objects and relationships from the old (corrupt) one...
