    Unanswered: msaccess to mysql connection

    I want to connect msaccess 2000 to an online mysql database. I have installed the mysql ODCB drivers.

    Normally, the mysql connection is through "localhost".

    How do I tell msaccess where to locate the online database in the Import Tables | ODCB connection dialog?

    You mean you want to make links of all your Tables on MySql in Access 2000? As you installed the ODBC drivers then go to File/External Data/Link tables then in the drop box [File Type] choose ODBC DB. At that moment another dialog box will allow you to choose your ODBC, then choose your Tables.

    I am not sure about the Menu names because I use a german Access version
    Good luck

    When you look at a php mysql database config file you see the following:

    DbHost = "localhost";
    DbDatabase = "c****";
    DbUser = "ch***";
    DbPassword = "chtra**";
    This dialog establishes the mysql connection.

    In access 2000, after establishing the ODCB dialog, I can tell where the database name, database user and database password are to be inserted in the ODCB dialog.

    But...what I don't know is what to use for the "localhost" entry. Is the site url or ip address or what?
