Unanswered: Unacceptable DB2 query response time.

    Hi guys,

We're developing a web application using java. It uses AS/400(V5R1) as server machine, WAS 5 as web server and IBM UDB DB2 as it's database.

Our problem was the unacceptable query response time of our apps. A query that took milliseconds in the AS/400 console screen took minutes(10 -20) using JDBC connection.

We have tried many performance tuning techniques adviced by the IBM but none of them lessen the response time.

We've tried to use the native DB2 driver (type 2) instead of the IBM Toolbox for Java (JT400 type 4) driver but it was the same.

    We are becoming prostrated now.

    Please help us!!!!!!!

    What is the DB2 Version?

If it is V8.1 Set the optimizer to 3 (Looks like there is a bug in V8.1 Optimizing the Queries - 0,1,2,5,7)

Here are the additional info :

Database Product Name [DB2 UDB for AS/400]
    Database Product Version [05.01.0000 V5R1m0]
Driver Name [AS/400 Toolbox for Java JDBC Driver]
    Driver Version [5.0]

How will I do the optimizing or what will i tell to our AS400 DBA?

    thx.
