Unanswered: DB export from one SID and same data import in another SID

    Hello

I want to take an export (.dmp file) from one database (SID = A)
and import the same in another database (SID = B) with all the data.
Can somebody please let me know if this is possible and if possible, how?

    Thank You

    hi,
Can you give us more details ?

Are you under unix or windows ?
do you want to import only data and not structure, of one or many shema, or entire database ?

Both the Oracle instances are running on Windows 2000. I need to export a user with structure(all the objects) and data from SID A and import the same in SID B.

    On SID A, exp system/***** file=exp.dmp owner=schemaA

change your environment variable ORACLE_SID and set it to B, then
    imp system/*** file=exp.dmp fromuser=schemaA touser=schemaB

You must create the destination user before importing, schemaA and schemaB can be the same.

    Hope this help you

also... if you need to import more than one schema, you can do a full export instead of exporting one schema at a time and import each schema like above with fromuser and touser from that full export file.
