Unanswered: v7.x and v8.x on the same box

    Hi All.

I have Windows 2000 box. Is it possible to have two versions of db2 udb at the same time ( for instance v7.1 and v8.1).

Oracle allows to do it using different ORACLE_HOME.

    Thanks,

    Vasja Chlen

    Probably

    Hi,

I think it is possible however you will have to manually create the instances.

Will do a POC and verify the same.

Unfortunately this isn't possible. Only one version is allowed on one system. You can create a dual-boot system but then you can't use them both at the same time. You can run multiple virtual systems on one box whith products like VMWare, a great product.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi,

true, especially the part about VMWare.

Another reason to go for linux - it is easy to accomodate two versions of DB2 over there.
