    Unanswered: Workgroup(MDW file lost )

    I am trying to fix a database(97) the programmer that was on it before left with a grudge from what i understand. I am wondering if any of you know how i could get back control of this data base.

    Without this mdw file, it seems difficult to enter the database. Perhaps search the internet for a tool to enable you that matter.

    Maybe it's possible to do it this way.

    Create a new database.
    Create a new workgroupfile (C:\myWorkgroupFile.mdw) but don't add new users or groups.

    Create a shortcut to the secured database.
    In the target-line add following: /Wrkgrp "C:\myWorkgroupFile.mdw"

    This will force the application to use the specified workgroupfile.
    And because you didn't add users or groups, everyone should be able to acces it.

    I'm not sure if this works in Access 97, because I use XP myself.
    I didn't try it myself, but it's worth a try.

    The other thing you could do is create a new database and import all the objects from the problematic one ...
