    Exclamation Unanswered: How to extract data from .tap file directly??

    My company has some really old informix tape backup (eg: aaa.tap.gz)
    Does anyone know how to extract data from these "tap" files directly??
    Our informix server crashed and i need to be able to access some of
    the data in these files. Any suggestions??

    Hi,

    Please attempt run:
    gunzip aaa.tap
    Next run command file aaa.tap, then look the output of command "file".

    Thanks for your reply Gustavo.

    Our unix server crashed and I don't have access to any unix system
    at the moment. Is there another way or tools to access these "tap" file
    on NT based machine.

    Do you know the file data structure in these file so that
    I can write a mini program to extract these data?? Thanks again.
